Abstract This study examines the surgical management of complex congenital heart defects (CHDs) at a tertiary care center in Eastern India, a region often characterized by resource limitations. Despite significant global advancements in pediatric cardiac surgery, many developing regions face unique challenges including delayed diagnosis, late presentation, limited infrastructure, financial constraints, and a scarcity of trained personnel. This retrospective analysis reviews the spectrum of complex CHDs encountered, the surgical strategies employed (including palliative and corrective procedures), and the associated intraoperative and postoperative outcomes over a defined period. The study aims to highlight the feasibility and efficacy of managing challenging cardiac anomalies in such a setting, identifying key factors influencing patient prognosis and suggesting areas for targeted improvement to enhance the quality of care and survival rates for children born with complex CHDs in resource-constrained environments.
